Remember:
It is much easier to disagree with people and what they say than it is to accept in humility the possibility that you could be wrong.
It is easy to find a sentence in a sermon that you deem unbiblical or improperly emphasized. After all, if someone’s talking for thirty to forty minutes, they’re bound to make a mistake somewhere. It’s easy to dismiss every true statement someone makes simply because they often make a lot of false statements.
It’s easy. So easy.
So next time you are about to criticize someone. Don’t. Hear them out and evaluate them according to the Bible. If it isn’t biblical then don’t believe it. Don’t plant your feet in the canon and fire from a cannon against them because remember: the commandment like the greatest is Love your neighbor.
You can learn something from anyone. As Tullian Tchividjian’s mother so eloquently, albeit crudely put, “If God can speak out of Balaam’s ass [donkey], he can sure use [men].”
