Jesus alone has said with truth, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?!”
No man can say such a thing with any validity. Rather, we can only say “My God, my God, why have I forsaken you?!” And “My God, my God, why have you forgiven me?!”
Christ was delivered unto the wrath of God for our sake, and we now stand forgiven—righteous—because of God. Why do we continue to sin as though it is not true? Realize who you are, Christian, and act accordingly. Sin is not in your nature; you are a new creation. Sin is dead; it has been crucified with Christ on the cross, do not you dare pick up a ladder and retrieve it. Bury it in the grave and never look back. Consider the love of your Savior and cherish it. Believe it. Live it. And the next time temptation comes your way, do not let satan and your flesh hustle you into a heated decision. Stop. Breathe. And gaze upon Christ who is the joy set before us, who for the joy set before him endured the cross despising its shame and is now seated at the right hand of the father interceding for us as the Spirit leads us in prayer.
