Beauty

It hit me today as I walked through the park and saw someone throw garbage on the ground. What if I painted a beautiful canvas portrait or glorious landscape and given it to someone I loved, only to have them turn around and take an EXPO to the face of it, Crayola across the breadth of it, or placed it beneath the table leg to prop it up? I would be crushed.

There Is No God Like Our God ~ 4 Thoughts

As I sat outside in the beautiful morning air, I read Genesis 1 and was filled with glorious wonder at the majesty and creativity of our God. The soft sound of birds chirping floated across the yard, the smell of clean air and fresh brewed coffee wafted and wakened my sense, the sight of the bright blue sky and vivid green grass moved me to contemplation. And the Word of God spoke.

It was a lovely and remains a lovely morning. As I read Genesis chapter 1, four things came to contemplation.

1.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

—God subdues chaos with the Word of his mouth. Consider this with me: formlessness, emptiness, darkness, deep, waters; each of these particularly in Ancient Mesopotamian thought yet even today is symbolic of chaos and danger.
